Marinated coctail meatballs

YIELD: 2 TO 2½ DOZEN MEATBALLS

        
1¼ pounds ground chuck

        
½ cup breadcrumbs

        
1 egg

        
1 teaspoon prepared mustard

        
1 tablespoon chopped parsley

        
pinch oregano

        
½ cup grated onion

        
salt and pepper to taste

        
1 teaspoon dried mint

        
dash each of ground allspice, cinnamon, and cloves1 teaspoon minced garlic

        
½ cup tomato sauce

        
¼ cup water
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Combine all ingredients except tomato sauce and water and shape into 1-inch balls. Put in a lightly greased baking pan and bake for 20 minutes. Turn halfway through the baking time. Drain on absorbent paper. In a saucepan simmer tomato sauce with ¼ cup water for 5 minutes. Correct seasonings. Add meatballs to sauce and marinate in the refrigerator overnight. Heat in covered casserole and serve hot.
